Finds a way

'If two points are destined to touch, the universe will always find a way to make the connection - even when all hope seems to be lost. Certain ties cannot be broken. They define who we are - and who we can become. Across space, across time, among paths we cannot predict - nature finds a way.'

- Jake Bohm, Touch

Dian Red Kechil

Jason Lai conducts

The works of the young composers from Dian Red Kechil's residency program was performed by Ensemble Ascolta and conducted mainly by Jason Lai. Held at the Orchestra Hall in Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, rather intimate setting which I like. The experience was akin to looking at abstract art. There are parts where I can't appreciate and make no sense of and there are parts where I thought I saw some form and I could relate it to something familiar. In any case, I enjoyed it.

Those deeply serious and passionate about their work are to be supported!

Cafe Batavia

Located in Kota Tua, meaning Old Town, and also known as Old Batavia from Dutch colonial days - this is Cafe Batavia. Transports one back to the days where the Dutch must have come here for a "taste of home". These days, one can have a taste of Indonesia right here in Cafe Batavia. Sop Buntut (Oxtail soup) is available and a must try here! Also ask the waiter for recommendations on the local conconctions although one can never go wrong with the juices in Jakarta.

Jakarta Go!

From my latest study trip to Jakarta

Indonesia - a population of 240 million and more than 170 000 islands. It is certainly a place to go and to be. Even the air is electric with opportunities!

Biked from my office to Tanjong Rhu to attend my colleague's house warming party. On the way, the view was breathtaking. I wish I could document the joy of sights a little more.

The weekends are starting to get rather exciting.
Look out for more
